We work with trusted Kenyan businesses to make property hunting, buying, and selling safer and smoother.
Paperless Kenya is a digital receipts and sales tracking app built for small and medium businesses across Kenya. It replaces the paper receipt book with branded, professional digital receipts that can be issued in seconds, whether a business is selling in a shop, at a market stall, or online.
Business owners can choose from more than 20 receipt designs, add their own logo and brand colours, and include a full KRA VAT breakdown on every receipt. Receipts can be sent straight to the buyer over WhatsApp or email, so there is no torn carbon-copy book to lose or damage.
Payments are collected directly through the app using M-Pesa STK Push, straight to a business's Till or Paybill number. A wallet balance is topped up from as little as KES 10, and each receipt issued deducts a small fee, as low as KES 0.20. Staff can see how many receipts they have remaining without seeing the business's full wallet balance, keeping day-to-day cash handling separate from financial oversight.
Every receipt generated gets a unique tracking number and a QR code linked to the record stored on Paperless Kenya's servers. Anyone can scan and verify a receipt, with no login required, making it very difficult for a screenshot or an altered copy to pass as genuine — useful for verifying a colleague's receipt during a shift change.
Beyond issuing receipts, Paperless Kenya also tracks cash flow and expenses. A user can photograph a paper receipt or invoice, or upload one after buying stock or paying a supplier, and the app reads the document and records the transaction automatically, without manual typing.
For business owners who want oversight, Paperless Kenya produces daily, weekly, monthly, or custom-range sales and expense reports, exportable to CSV in one click, alongside a running ledger and cashbook built from the receipts and expenses recorded.
Lockpesa is a digital escrow service that protects both buyers and sellers when they transact online. Instead of a buyer paying a seller directly and hoping the goods or services arrive as promised, the buyer's payment is held securely by Lockpesa until the deal is actually completed.
The process follows six steps: the buyer or seller initiates a transaction, the buyer deposits funds into a secure Lockpesa account, Lockpesa holds those funds, the seller delivers the item or completes the service, the buyer confirms that delivery, and only then are the funds released to the seller. Because the money is held in the middle, neither side needs to trust the other blindly, which reduces the risk of fraud on deals such as electronics, freelance work, vehicles, and land.
For higher-value purchases, Lockpesa offers a feature called Lipa Mdogo Mdogo. A seller sets up a payment plan with a deposit and a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly instalment schedule, the buyer accepts a signed agreement covering the terms and any penalties, and then pays over time through M-Pesa or bank transfer. Every instalment stays in Lockpesa's custody, and the seller cannot withdraw anything until all payments are complete and the buyer confirms delivery, at which point funds are released just like a standard escrow deal.
If something goes wrong, either party can raise a dispute through the Lockpesa dashboard. Both sides get a set window, typically 48 hours, to submit evidence such as tracking numbers and communication logs. Lockpesa's resolution team reviews everything and tries to mediate an agreement; if that fails, they issue a final, binding decision, and funds are either refunded to the buyer or released to the seller.
Lockpesa accepts M-Pesa, bank transfer, and major credit or debit cards, charges a tiered fee based on the transaction amount, and has an app available on Google Play. Lockpesa is operated by Teelpay Technologies Ltd, the same company behind Homia Kenya.
